Become the leader others want to follow... Character matters... Knowing yourself is essential…
Get out of the office and into the field!
And let horses teach you skills that transform your ability to lead
Do you desire learning breakthroughs that will enhance your capacity for success and leadership excellence? Are you ready to bring your best self forward? Would you like to reclaim your connection to feeling and trusting what matters to live and lead in ways that matter? If you are, experiential leadership with horses is for you.
Now more than ever, we recognize that the leadership challenges we face today are not so much about technical skills, as they are about integrity and character. Our leadership effectiveness is directly tied to our self-expression as leaders – the harmony of our thoughts, words and action. Research and results show time and again that successful leaders who meet organizational challenges, make the most of opportunities, and get the best from their teams, know how to:
- Establish connected relationships.
- Inspire and bring people together around a shared purpose.
- Lead with poise, power and presence.
Program Overview
All programs build are designed around Amanda’s core beliefs about leadership development:
- Competency in emotional intelligence, or EQ, is where it’s at. This is what distinguishes great leaders from good ones.
- A strong EQ skill set is just the beginning. Many good leaders have strong personal and interpersonal skills. What great leaders have is EQ competency – a combination of personal and relationship skills that set them apart from others.
- When it comes to building EQ competency, traditional learning approaches and environments just aren’t all that effective. Experiential learning, coaching and peer feedback in real-time work, and they work powerfully well.
Each program is tailored for your goals, which may include how to:
- Increase your ability to lead and influence others
- Make choices and take actions that are congruent with who you are as a leader
- Engage in respectful partnership and cooperation
- Hold yourself and your team accountable for promises and commitments
- Communicate more clearly and effectively within and across teams
- Move more quickly from conflict to resolution
- Tolerate ambiguity and innovate on-the-go
Why Horses?
A team of people and a herd of horses have a lot in common. They both require strong leadership; clear, consistent communication; and a keen awareness of the needs and goals of the group.
Horses provide us with a dramatic view of how our leadership skills and team work measure up. Many employees have been socialized into hiding feelings and reactions in the work place, especially from their leaders. Horses will tell you in no uncertain terms how you're affecting them — if you pay attention to the right signals. They hold up a mirror for those of us in leadership positions that we simply do not get from those who work with and for us.
Horses don't care about titles or degrees, pay scales or professional status symbols. They have no hidden agendas. They respond to us in ways that are immediate, transparent, and honest. They can't be bullied into partnership. They react in direct proportion to a person's ability to lead. Horses are master coaches who can show us when we are:
- Present or absent in conversation
- Aligned in our walk and talk
- Congruent with our bodies and feelings
- Clear about our purpose and what we are asking
- Pretending or judging
Horses can provide rich learning experiences to help leaders and work teams build a greater sense of cohesion, improve communications, and gain a deeper experience of 'right relationship' with others.
